A murder investigation is underway and four men have been arrested following the death of a 17-year-old boy in Linslade, Bedfordshire. The teenager was found unresponsive by emergency services late Thursday evening after police responded to reports of suspicious behavior in the area.
Authorities were alerted to the scene at approximately 10:25 p.m. on Thursday. Paramedics attempted to provide aid, but the boy was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. His family has been notified and is receiving support from specialist officers.
Initially, one man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. Three additional men have since been taken into custody in connection with the incident. Bedfordshire Police are working to establish the circumstances leading to the boy's death.
Police stated that the initial call to emergency services reported a break-in in progress. However, subsequent inquiries have not found evidence to support that a burglary was ongoing or had been planned. Detective Inspector Caeva Taylor of Bedfordshire Police emphasized the tragic nature of the incident and urged the public to come forward with any information.
"Our team is working hard to establish what has led to the boy's death and we understand the concern this will cause in the community," Taylor said. "The initial 999 call to police was to report a possible break-in in progress, however our enquiries so far have found no evidence whatsoever that the victim was carrying out, or attempting to carry out, a burglary."
Detectives are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking with residents in the area as part of the ongoing investigation. Police are appealing for anyone with information, particularly any doorbell or CCTV footage, to contact them via 101, referencing Operation Breakwater.
