Teenager Dies Days After Suspected Hit-and-Run in Wakefield; Man Arrested
A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the incident involving 16-year-old Nadia Mucha.
A 16-year-old girl has died days after she was discovered seriously injured on a road in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, following a suspected hit-and-run incident. The victim has been identified as Nadia Mucha.
Police were called to the scene near a bus stop at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, where they found Mucha with severe head and chest injuries. She was transported to a hospital, where she passed away four days later.
West Yorkshire Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the incident on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Friends and family have shared tributes on social media, remembering Mucha as 'Nadia Victoria.' Her cousin, Courtney Jade Biggs, described her as "the most beautiful, selfless, caring, loving, gentle, generous, hilarious, still soul" and stated that "She didn't deserve any of this." Other tributes highlighted her vibrant future that was cut short.
Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Elly Buchanan of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team said the investigation is ongoing. "We are continuing to support Nadia's family through this horrific time and are working at pace to find them the answers they deserve," Buchanan stated. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in bringing justice for Nadia's family.
