A 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named due to his age, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday facing a murder charge. The court appearance followed the discovery of a body in Duffryn Park in Blaina, Blaenau Gwent, on June 22. Authorities believe the body is that of Lilly Jones, also 14, who had been reported missing.
The boy spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth, and address during the 21-minute hearing. He was flanked by three prison custody officers and a supporting adult. As he left the dock, his mother was observed blowing him a kiss. He has been remanded into secure youth accommodation.
A plea and trial preparation hearing is scheduled for July 24, with a four-week trial expected to commence on November 23. The body found in the park has not yet been formally identified.
