Teenage Girls Brawl in Newcastle, Police Investigating

Footage has captured a violent altercation between several teenage girls in Newcastle, New South Wales, with police now investigating the incident. The fight occurred shortly before 2 p.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Scott Street and Pacific Street.

Video of the incident shows one girl in a black top approach another wearing a blue towel and initiate a physical confrontation. The dispute quickly escalated into multiple individuals joining the melee, while a crowd of bystanders gathered and filmed the scene. The fight appeared to subside after about 37 seconds when someone from the crowd intervened.

One parent, identified as Jessica, whose daughter was involved in defending a friend, described the event as "absolutely horrific." She told 2GB that her daughter sustained physical injuries, including hair being pulled out, and expressed concern about the emotional impact.

Jessica indicated that this was not an isolated incident and suggested the attack may have been pre-planned. Following the altercation, the girls involved contacted their parents, and police were called to the scene. Jessica reported that an officer informed her that due to the age of the perpetrators, there was a low probability of significant consequences.

She voiced concerns that violence among children is becoming a form of entertainment and called for change. Police confirmed they have spoken with several teenagers involved in the incident and stated that the investigation is ongoing. No serious injuries were reported.
