Teen Girls Arrested After Shopping Center Brawl in Melbourne
Five individuals, including a 12-year-old, were taken into custody following an altercation where a knife was allegedly produced.
Five teenage girls and a woman were arrested following a brawl at a shopping center in Melbourne's northeast on Friday evening. Police officers, who were patrolling the food court of Northland Shopping Centre Road in Preston, witnessed a group of girls fighting around 6:20 p.m.
The arrested individuals include four girls aged 12, 14, 16, and 17, along with an 18-year-old woman. The 14-year-old sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. The 12-year-old also suffered minor injuries, received treatment from paramedics, and was released pending further inquiries.
The 18-year-old, who is from Coburg North, and the two other teenagers, both from the Hume area, were interviewed by police. They are expected to be charged via summons. Authorities reported that officers seized a knife that was allegedly produced during the incident. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the brawl.
