Teen Dies After Truck Strikes Bicycle in Manhattan
A 15-year-old girl was killed and a 13-year-old injured when their electric bike was struck by a truck on the Lower East Side.

A 15-year-old girl died and a 13-year-old was hospitalized after an excavation truck struck their bicycle in Manhattan on Friday night.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on East 14th Street as the truck turned north onto First Avenue. Both teenagers were riding on the same electric CitiBike.
Bystanders reported hearing shouts directed at the truck driver, attempting to warn him, but the driver may not have heard them, according to a witness.
"Two bystanders were trying to pull the girl on the right side out from under the wheel," the witness said. "Then the cops came and told them to stop because they could cause her more damage."
Emergency responders performed CPR on the younger girl at the scene before she was transported to Bellevue Hospital. The 15-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital. The 13-year-old was listed in stable condition.
A witness described the scene as "dramatic" and noted the electric CitiBike appeared to be pinned beneath the truck's tire.
The truck driver remained at the scene and appeared visibly distressed. Police are investigating the collision.
