Teen Arrested in Plastic Surgeon's Execution in Marbella
An 18-year-old Swedish national has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of renowned plastic surgeon Alexander Aslani at his clinic in Marbella, Spain.
Police in Marbella have arrested an 18-year-old Swedish national on suspicion of murdering plastic surgeon Alexander Aslani. The arrest occurred approximately 24 hours after Aslani, 57, was shot and killed inside his Cirumed Clinic.
Authorities confirmed the arrest, stating, "A man aged 18 has just been arrested as the suspected author of the homicide committed on Wednesday evening in Marbella." No further details were immediately provided.
Investigators are exploring whether Aslani, who trained in the UK and previously worked at London Highgate Hospital and Dolan Park Hospital near Birmingham, may have been targeted by hitmen hired by a dissatisfied former patient. A local newspaper, Sur, reported that a client had sent threatening messages to the clinic hours before the shooting, expressing unhappiness with a treatment's outcome and demanding a refund.
However, sources close to the surgeon have refuted claims that the crime could be linked to the death of a patient on the operating table, stating he had never lost a patient under such circumstances. The investigation is focusing on identifying who hired the alleged hitman and the motive behind the killing.
The shooter, described as a masked assassin, reportedly entered the clinic and shot Aslani multiple times in the head in front of customers before fleeing on a waiting motorbike, with an accomplice in a black Audi. The getaway vehicle was a Yamaha maxi-scooter.
Aslani, who had 200,000 followers on Instagram, was a consultant plastic surgeon at London Highgate Hospital from 2007 to 2009 and previously held the same role at Dolan Park Hospital. His father was Dr. Amir Aslani, recognized as a pioneer of the modern mastectomy in Germany. Aslani also participated in humanitarian work, leading an annual pediatric plastic surgery mission in India with Interplast.
His wife, Jeannine, who is listed as Director of Nursing at the Cirumed Clinic, is believed to have been at an adjacent aesthetic and anti-aging center at the time of the murder. Aslani was a father of two.
Several public figures and organizations paid tribute to Aslani. Former reality television stars Chloe Sims and Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace, who had been treated by the surgeon, posted emotional messages online. Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace described him as a "beautiful human being with great humour and a big heart." Age Concern Estepona, a charity Aslani and his family had supported, expressed heartbreak over the loss of a "wonderful man."
The Costa del Sol region has recently seen an increase in organized crime activity. Incidents include gang-related shootings, a discovered torture chamber, and the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man in Malaga. More than 100 international mafia groups are reportedly operating along the coastline, engaged in violent disputes for control.
