Teen Admits to Knife Possession, Denies Attempted Murder in School Attack

The mother of a teenage boy accused of a masked knife attack at a school told a court she received a message from her son saying "sorry" shortly after the incident, the trial has heard.

Police were called to Thorpe St Andrew School near Norwich on March 11 after reports that a 15-year-old student had been stabbed in the back. The defendant, who is 16 and cannot be named for legal reasons, denies attempted murder but has admitted to possessing a kitchen knife without lawful authority and wounding with intent.

The boy's mother testified at King's Lynn Crown Court that she was in "complete shock" when she realized her son was involved after seeing information on social media. She described her son as "very quiet, very funny, very smart" with a "dry sense of humour."

Previously, the court heard that the defendant had written notes expressing hatred towards women. The schoolgirl victim recounted to police that she told a teacher, "Sir, I've been stabbed."

The mother stated that the night before the attack was "completely normal," and her son left for school at his usual time. She became aware of the incident while "doom-scrolling" and messaged her son to ask if he was alright, but did not receive an immediate response. She expressed worry when she learned of an incident at the school and had not heard from her children.
