Ted Shackelford, 'Knots Landing' Star, Seen Using Walker in Rare Public Appearance

Ted Shackelford, the 80-year-old actor best known for his role as Gary Ewing on the long-running television soap operas "Dallas" and its spin-off "Knots Landing," was recently spotted during a rare public outing in Los Angeles using a walker.
The actor was photographed wearing a blue collared shirt layered with a blue knit cardigan, black trousers, sunglasses, and sneakers. Shackelford's appearance marks a notable public sighting for the veteran television actor.
Shackelford first gained recognition for his role as Raymond Gordon on "Another World" before taking on the part of Gary Ewing, the black sheep of the Ewing family, on "Dallas" from 1979 to 1981. He continued to portray the character on "Knots Landing" from its inception in 1979 until the show concluded in 1993.
Despite playing the character for over a decade, Shackelford previously expressed a dislike for Gary Ewing, telling The Dallas Decoder in 2013 that he felt the character lacked strength and never thought things through. He stated, "I mean, just once I wanted him to have some courage. And I never saw that."
Following "Knots Landing," Shackelford maintained a consistent presence in television, appearing in various TV movies and guest-starring on shows such as "Cybill" and "Spin City." He later returned to his soap opera roots, portraying Jeffery and William Bardwell on "The Young and the Restless" from 2006 to 2015, with a final appearance in 2017.
Shackelford also reprised his role as Gary Ewing in a 2013 reboot of "Dallas" and participated in a "Knots Landing" reunion special in 2005. He most recently made a guest appearance on "NCIS" in 2017.
