The highly anticipated Season 4 finale of the Apple TV+ comedy "Ted Lasso" delivered on its promise of "big changes in bunches," wrapping up numerous storylines for AFC Richmond and its key characters.

The episode, titled "Being Alive," began with a celebration of life for Mae Greene, the beloved Crown & Anchor pub owner, played by Annette Badland. The gathering honored Mae's memory with tributes and shared memories, reflecting the impact she had on the community.

Shifting Roles and Personal News

Amidst the emotional farewells, significant professional and personal developments unfolded. Roy Kent, portrayed by Brett Goldstein, received an offer for the head coaching position at his former club, Chelsea, prompting him to consider leaving AFC Richmond. Meanwhile, Keeley Jones, played by Juno Temple, revealed her pregnancy, adding another layer of personal change for her and Roy.

Ted Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, also grappled with personal revelations. He confided in his son, Henry, about his father's death, sharing the truth about his father's suicide, a moment that brought a new depth to their relationship.

A Pivotal Shareholders' Meeting

A major plot point revolved around AFC Richmond's ownership. Rebecca Welton, played by Hannah Waddingham, faced a challenge to her control of the club. Higgins discovered that the Milk Sisters had sold their shares, creating uncertainty. During a shareholders' meeting, Zelda revealed she had purchased the shares, intending to take over the women's team. However, the situation shifted again when Hugo Riddles revealed he had bought the Milk Sisters' shares and sided with Rebecca. Further complicating matters, Elaine Pinter announced that Mae Greene had left her shares to Rebecca, restoring Rebecca's majority control of the club.

Farewells and New Beginnings

The finale saw several characters making significant decisions about their futures. Roy Kent ultimately decided to leave AFC Richmond, a move that Ted and Rebecca supported despite their sadness.

In a surprising turn, Rebecca, inspired by Mae's poem "When Death Comes" and a desire to embrace life, proposed to her Dutch partner, accepting his proposal. This marked a significant shift in her perspective on relationships and personal happiness.

Ted's New Role and the Future of AFC Richmond

The episode concluded with Ted Lasso and Coach Beard taking on assistant coaching roles for the AFC Richmond women's team, with Alice Chilton promoted to Head Coach/Manager. This transition signifies a new era for the club, with a focus on the women's team and a changing of the guard in leadership.

The finale also featured appearances from former members of the men's team, including Sam Obisanya, Isaac McAdoo, and Colin Hughes, cheering on the women's team. Nate Shelley, played by Nick Mohammed, made a brief appearance, revealing he is coaching the Polish National Football team.
