Ted Lasso Season 4 Finale Airs October 7, Addressing Mae Greene's Death
Apple TV's acclaimed comedy will conclude its fourth season with an episode titled "The Departing Lass," exploring the aftermath of a significant character's demise.
The highly anticipated Season 4 finale of Apple TV's "Ted Lasso," episode 10, is scheduled for release on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Titled "The Departing Lass," the episode is expected to address the recent death of Mae Greene, a beloved character and owner of the Crown & Anchor pub, who was revealed to have died in the stands during a Lady Greyhounds game in the penultimate episode.
Fans can anticipate watching the finale as early as 9:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, October 6, as Apple TV typically releases new episodes the night before their official premiere date. The synopsis for the finale, as per Apple TV's press site, states, "Season finale. Big changes in bunches." The episode was written by Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt. Ahead of its premiere, the episode title on Apple TV's streaming platform was changed from "The Departing Lass" to "Being Alive," a move that has reportedly caused confusion among viewers.
Actress Annette Badland, who portrayed Mae Greene, confirmed the character's death in an interview with DECIDER. The season finale will feature "some really beautiful scenes that honor [Mae]," according to Tanya Reynolds, who plays Alice Chilton. Abbie Hern, who plays star striker Gemma Jay, described the finale as feeling "like the beginning of an ending, more so than the beginning of this season."
Season 4 of "Ted Lasso" consists of 10 episodes, consistent with the first season, meaning episode 10 serves as the season finale, and there will be no eleventh episode for this season.
The release schedule for "Ted Lasso" Season 4 included weeklyWednesday releases starting August 5, 2026, with episode 9, "Mae Rides the Bus," airing on September 30.
While Apple TV has not officially renewed "Ted Lasso" for a fifth season, its popularity as one of Apple TV+'s flagship shows suggests a potential continuation. Stars Abbie Hern and Tanya Reynolds have expressed interest in a fifth season, and Jason Sudeikis has previously indicated that the series was conceived with a three-season arc in mind. More information regarding a potential Season 5 is expected to be announced.
"Ted Lasso" is an Apple TV original series and is available for streaming on the platform. Apple TV offers a seven-day free trial for new subscribers and a single ad-free plan for $14.99 per month. A bundle including Apple TV and Peacock is also available starting at $14.99 per month.
