Ted Danson, 78, was recognized at the 28th Annual Television Hall of Fame ceremony in Los Angeles on Thursday, attending the event with his daughter Kate Danson.
Danson, known for his roles in "Cheers" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," was inducted alongside other notable figures including Jean Smart, Ted Sarandos, the late Ed Bradley, and "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Danson's wife, Mary Steenburgen, also attended the ceremony.
Kate Danson, 46, is an actress, producer, and director who has had roles in television shows and has directed several short film segments. She previously acted alongside her father in a 2013 episode of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," playing a lawyer who confronts his character. In March, Kate and her father also attended The Actor’s Awards.
Danson has two daughters, Kate and Katrina, with his ex-wife Casey Coates. He is also stepdad to Steenburgen's two children, Lilly and Charlie, from her previous marriage to actor Malcolm McDowell.
In a past public discussion, Danson addressed a controversial blackface performance he delivered years ago. Speaking on a podcast in June, Danson offered a public apology for the routine, stating, "I would like to address this and apologize forever." He described the performance as a decision made in arrogance and ignorance.
Kate Danson has publicly supported her father's activism, including his participation in environmental protests. In 2019, she shared a photo of her father after his arrest at a climate change demonstration, writing, "Setting a good example for your children? Why Yes Indeed!"
