Teacher Accused of Filming Over 350 Children in School Toilets

A primary school teacher is accused of secretly filming more than 350 children using hidden spy cameras in male toilets at a Melbourne school.

Timothy Blamires, 33, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Friday. Court documents reveal the alleged offenses occurred over six months, between October 13, 2025, and April 21, 2026, at Kingswood Primary School in Dingley Village.

Blamires allegedly installed spy cameras inside fragrance dispensers in the school toilets. The charges detail that he recorded in excess of 34 prepubescent children on October 13, 2025, and more than 188 children approximately a week later on October 20. Further allegations include recording over 60 children on October 22, 2025, and more than 74 children on March 30, 2026.

The alleged scheme was discovered on April 28, 2026, when a cleaner found a hidden camera inside an odor dispenser in the male toilets. The device was connected to a hard drive. The cleaner reportedly placed the camera in a plastic bag and presented it to the principal before police were notified.

While authorities were en route, Blamires is accused of removing the camera from the dispenser and concealing it in a drawer in the sick bay before returning to his classroom. The odor dispenser was allegedly found in his backpack at the school following his arrest. Police also seized laptops, phones, and tablets from his residence.

Blamires faces 16 charges, including six counts of installing a spy cam, five counts of producing child abuse material, four counts of possessing child abuse material, and one count of refusing to provide access codes to electronic devices. He was denied bail in May, with a magistrate citing concerns about enforcing an internet access ban. His case was adjourned to November 20.
