Attorneys for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are reportedly finalizing an extensive prenuptial agreement, with the document potentially spanning 40 pages.
The agreement is expected to meticulously outline the individual assets and expectations of the music superstar and the NFL player. Experts suggest that while the document may contain complex clauses, the division of existing assets is likely to be straightforward: what each party brings into the marriage will remain theirs, along with any appreciation on those individual assets.
Jacqueline Newman, a Manhattan-based divorce attorney specializing in high-net-worth clients, indicated that a prenup could include provisions restricting Swift from writing or singing about Kelce or their relationship, a practice that has been a hallmark of her songwriting career. "There are ways you can get round it with creative license," Newman told the Daily Mail, "but there can definitely be language to make attempts to try to avoid her being able to do that."
Swift, estimated to be worth $2 billion, has built a significant financial empire through her music, tours, and investments. Her fortune includes a vast real estate portfolio exceeding $120 million, a Dassault Falcon 7X private jet, and her music catalog, which reportedly generates $100 million annually from streaming alone. She also demonstrated significant business acumen by financing her Eras Tour film and securing lucrative deals with Disney for its distribution and extended versions.
Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, has amassed an estimated $111 million in NFL career earnings, with a current contract worth $54.7 million over three years. His assets also include a $6 million home in Leawood, Kansas, earnings from his podcast, and endorsement deals. He is also a co-founder of the steakhouse 1587 Prime.
Despite the considerable disparity in their current net worth, legal experts suggest that the prenup will likely preserve the separation of their individual estates. Newman anticipates that Swift will cover major expenses related to her homes and personal security, while a joint account may be established to manage shared lifestyle costs. The agreement may also address future earnings, with experts predicting that Swift's future creative output will likely remain her separate property, mirroring Kelce's desire to retain ownership of his own creative endeavors.
