Taylor Swift's Secret Emmy Skit Kept "Law & Order" Cast in the Dark
The singer made a surprise appearance in a pre-taped sketch for the awards show.
Taylor Swift's appearance in a "top secret" Emmy Awards skit for "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" caught the cast by surprise, according to actor Ice-T.
Ice-T, who plays Detective Fin Tutuola on the NBC crime drama, told Page Six that the cast was instructed to film a sketch for the Mariska Hargitay-hosted awards show but were not told about Swift's involvement until they arrived on set. "I had no idea what it was," Ice-T stated. "And then when we got there, Taylor Swift was there."
The "Law & Order: SVU" team was directed to maintain strict secrecy about Swift's participation to preserve the surprise for viewers. Ice-T described Swift, 36, as professional during filming, noting that she delivered her lines with focus.
After filming concluded, Swift shared baked goods with the cast. "I got some cookies," Ice-T said, debating whether to eat them or keep them as a souvenir. He also mentioned connecting with Swift on a "musician vibe" and praised her professionalism.
The skit featured Hargitay's character, Olivia Benson, discussing whether Swift, then married to Travis Kelce, would attend the Emmys. Swift, whose cat is named Olivia Benson after Hargitay's character, made a cameo, joking about her own potential absence from the awards show.
Swift and Hargitay have a friendship that dates back to the Met Gala, with Hargitay attending Swift's wedding in July. Swift also previously cast Hargitay in her "Bad Blood" music video. Ice-T confirmed that Swift would be welcomed back to the "SVU" set anytime.
Following the Emmys, Swift attended her husband Travis Kelce's NFL game, where she was seen with actor Tom Cruise.
