Plans for a potential wedding between pop superstar Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce could coincide with and potentially upstage Donald Trump's significant Fourth of July celebration events.
According to a report by The New York Times, Swift has reportedly rented Madison Square Garden in New York City for several days, with celebrations possibly occurring on July 3. This timing falls within the holiday weekend, a period Trump is reportedly planning to use for events emphasizing America's 250th birthday.
Permits have been filed to close streets surrounding Madison Square Garden from July 2 to midday on July 4. The report also indicates that hotel rooms have been booked for Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs teammates at a Times Square hotel, with gatherings planned at the Garden on Thursday and Friday of that week.
Swift, who has previously endorsed Democratic candidates including Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, has had a public, contentious relationship with former President Trump. Trump has expressed his dislike for Swift on his Truth Social platform, particularly after her endorsement of Harris in 2024. A right-wing conspiracy theory in 2024 also falsely suggested Swift and Kelce were Democratic operatives.
Swift and Kelce announced their engagement in August.
