Taylor Swift's New Track 'Patient Zero' Dethrones Ella Langley's Record-Breaking Chart Run
Swift's latest song debuts at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, ending Langley's 24-week reign.
Taylor Swift has once again secured the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with the debut of her song "Patient Zero." This achievement halts Ella Langley's historic 24-week streak at number one with her song "Choosin' Texas."
"Patient Zero" is featured on the deluxe version of Swift's 2025 album, "The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore," which was released in late September. The new album has also seen three other songs debut in the top five of the Hot 100: "Cleveland!" at number three, "Babylon" at number four, and "Pink Clouding" at number five.
With this latest number one debut, Swift now ties with Drake for the most songs, 10, to have debuted at the top of the Hot 100 chart. This chart success follows Swift's recent recognition at the 2026 VMAs, where she received the inaugural Artist Director Honors. This award broke her tie with Beyoncé, making Swift the most decorated artist in the history of the VMAs with 30 awards.
Swift, who has directed 18 of her 60 music videos, accepted the award and thanked her fans, stating, "The main reason why I love writing and directing music videos so much is because you, the fans, make it so much fun. You make it so rewarding! Because you actually care about what we’re making."
In addition to her professional achievements, Swift also recently celebrated a personal milestone. In July, she married Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in a ceremony at Madison Square Garden. The event was reportedly attended by numerous stars and guests were under strict non-disclosure agreements. Kelce described the wedding on their podcast, "New Heights," as an "intimate and genuine setting without a lot of distractions," praising the venue for providing a private feel. He also noted the benefit of a phone-free environment, allowing guests to be "in the moment and present."
