Taylor Swift Makes Surprise 'SNL' Appearance During Dakota Johnson's Monologue
Swift playfully joined Johnson on stage, taking on the role of her 'therapist' as Johnson discussed her dating history.
Taylor Swift made an unexpected appearance on "Saturday Night Live" this past weekend, crashing host Dakota Johnson's opening monologue. The Grammy-winning singer joined Johnson on stage to jokingly play the role of her "literal therapist."
Johnson, promoting her new thriller "Verity," began by referencing her romantic history with musicians. "Some of them don’t wear shoes, some of them are terrible in bed. All of them are in my DMs. Not my fault, though," Johnson quipped. "Some people leave concerts with merch, I leave concerts with a two-and-a-half-year relationship."
She continued, "But I have really good friends. They don’t judge me for dating these men. They’re actually really supportive." At this point, Swift walked onto the stage to a cheering audience.
"Ladies and gentlemen, my literal therapist," Johnson announced. Swift responded, "I’m not your therapist, actually. You just show up at my house once a week with an empty bottle of wine and ask me if I want some."
Swift playfully continued the bit, describing Johnson's visits: "And then you flop on my couch and overshare and every so often I just say, ‘Damn, that’s crazy.’ Then I go, ‘It’s late, I should really go to bed.’"
"Sleepover yay!" Johnson interjected, to which Swift added, "Then I give you a Pedialyte and my security drives you home."
Johnson also humorously suggested her relationships with musicians serve as a public service, saving women money on antidepressants. She alluded to rumors of her dating Machine Gun Kelly, a Cleveland native, referencing Swift's boyfriend Travis Kelce's hometown.
Swift, who has appeared on "SNL" nine times previously as a musical guest, host, or cameo, enthusiastically reacted to the mention of Cleveland. The appearance marks another collaboration between Johnson and Swift, as Johnson stars in Swift's recent music video for "Patient Zero," which Swift directed.
Johnson's past relationships include Noah Gersh, Mathew Hitt, Chris Martin, and Role Model. She and Machine Gun Kelly have recently sparked dating rumors after reportedly meeting at Swift and Kelce's wedding.
