Taylor Swift is adopting a style reminiscent of former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, marked by polished silhouettes, pearls, and voluminous hairstyles. This aesthetic shift has been noted in her public appearances, including a recent wedding and outings in New York City.

Stylist Lisa Talbot told the Daily Mail that Swift is embracing a "polished, feminine aesthetic associated with Jackie Kennedy," characterized by A-line silhouettes, ladylike dresses, pearls, structured accessories, and carefully styled hair. Talbot observed that Swift's looks often incorporate elements of 1950s and 1960s American fashion, such as the "Southern Belle" or classic Americana styles, presenting a feminine interpretation of the era.

Swift's evolving style became more pronounced approximately two years ago, coinciding with her increased time spent in the U.S. following her relationship with NFL player Travis Kelce. During one of their early public appearances at the U.S. Open in 2024, Swift wore a red gingham dress and cat-eye sunglasses, a look that mirrored one worn by Jacqueline Kennedy in Hyannis Port in the summer of 1960.

More recently, Swift attended a wedding in Gloucestershire, England, wearing a navy blue gown embroidered with gold leaves and flowers. She accessorized with a pearl necklace and bracelet, and her diamond engagement ring, estimated to be worth $1 million, was also prominent. Her hairstyle at the event featured significant volume and a side-swept fringe, evoking Kennedy's signature look. This weekend, she was in full Southern Belle mode as she donned a navy blue Costarellos gown, embroidered with gold leaves and flowers, for her friends Oli Jacobs and Laura Sisk's wedding in Gloucestershire on Saturday

Earlier this spring, Swift was seen in New York City in an all-white ensemble, described as understated yet sophisticated, reminiscent of Kennedy's structured shift dresses and mini skirts. In May, while with Kelce, she wore a floral Dôen dress, channeling a "White House-chic" style. In May, while out and about with Travis, she also channelled White House-chic in a flowy, floral Dôen dress

Talbot noted that Swift's approach to retro-inspired dressing avoids looking like a costume. "She’s not simply recreating a vintage look. She’s taking recognisable elements from the era and making them feel relevant to her now," Talbot explained. Swift balances vintage silhouettes, hairstyles, or accessories with contemporary elements to maintain relevance. Taylor pictured in May, in New York City earlier this year

The stylist suggested that Swift could also draw inspiration from other style icons of the mid-20th century, such as Diana Vreeland or Audrey Hepburn, to introduce more contrast into her wardrobe. However, Talbot acknowledged that Swift's current embrace of Americana references is amplified by her current life chapter, including her relationship with the NFL and the surrounding public imagery. The trend towards 1950s and 1960s-inspired fashion, characterized by feminine silhouettes and a nostalgic appeal, is also part of a broader shift where individuals are increasingly looking to past decades for style inspiration. Swift's curated style language, according to Talbot, feels connected to her present moment.
