Taylor Swift has released a 13-second teaser for her upcoming music video, "Patient Zero," featuring A-list actors Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell. The first look was unveiled on Thursday during an episode of "CBS Mornings," with the full video slated for premiere at the VMAs 2026 on Sunday.
The teaser offers glimpses of Swift and Johnson in a dark bathroom, mirroring each other as they wash their hands. Later, they are seen standing before a grave, with Swift placing a hand on Johnson's shoulder. Farrell appears, exiting a sports car, before the trio, all dressed in black, converge for a drink.
Swift's co-hosts on "CBS Mornings" expressed excitement about the release, with Vladimir Duthiers noting Johnson's involvement was hinted at during the Emmys 2026, referencing a clue about "north or south."
This collaboration follows a recent period of close association between Swift and Johnson, with Swift reportedly allowing Johnson to use her New York City apartment for meetings with Machine Gun Kelly.
Fans have been anticipating new music from Swift, who has been dropping hints and "Easter eggs" across various platforms for months. These clues included references in her "Opalite" music video earlier in the year and a surprise cameo at the Emmys 2026. On Tuesday, Swift officially announced the release of her new single, "Patient Zero."
In addition to the new single, Swift also announced "The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore," an updated version of her 2025 album featuring four new songs. The additional tracks, "Patient Zero," "Cleveland!," "Pink Clouding," and "Babylon," were written and recorded during a trip to Sweden with collaborators Max Martin and Shellback. The "encore" version is also set for release on Friday.
Swift's previous album, "The Life of a Showgirl," released in October 2025, included several songs dedicated to her fiancé, Travis Kelce. The singer, who married Kelce in July, has been seen supporting him at Kansas City Chiefs games, most recently celebrating his first touchdown of the season.
