Plans for a wedding ceremony and festivities involving singer Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden reportedly include extensive security measures and street closures managed by the New York Police Department (NYPD), according to an apparent security detail memo reviewed by Fox News Digital.
The memo, dated June 29, details a multi-day event spanning setup, celebrations, and breakdown, anticipating approximately 1,000 guests. The NYPD is preparing to secure a city block outside the venue, specifically West 31st Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, which authorities plan to shut down for the entire day on July 3. This closure is described as less restrictive than those implemented for the NBA Finals earlier in the month.
Guests are expected to arrive at a secure reception tent for a cocktail hour to maintain privacy before the ceremony, which is reportedly scheduled for the evening. The reception is slated to continue into the early morning hours of July 4. Reports from Page Six suggest musical performances by artists such as Stevie Nicks and Tim McGraw are planned, with the event being described as potentially larger than the Met Gala.
The event has secured permits from New York City's Street Activity Permit Office, part of the Mayor's Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management. The NYPD is expected to provide taxpayer-funded security and traffic control for the duration of the festivities.
While Swift and Kelce have kept details of their guest list private, the memo indicates police have been advised to prepare for large crowds of paparazzi outside the venue. Invitations for the event are reportedly watermarked to discourage leaks. Around 100 guests are also expected at a rehearsal dinner the evening before the main ceremony.
In recent days, equipment, including items concealed by black plastic sheeting, has been observed being moved into Madison Square Garden, as seen in a photo obtained by Fox News Digital.
The NYPD has not immediately responded to requests for comment regarding the memo's authenticity. The venue falls within the jurisdiction of the NYPD's Patrol Borough Manhattan South, whose commanding officer was recently reassigned amid an internal affairs investigation.
