Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce paid New York City $160,000 to cover the cost of resources utilized for their wedding at Madison Square Garden, Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced. The July 3 event required a significant NYPD presence, heightened security measures, and led to street closures in the vicinity.

Mamdani stated at a press conference on Friday that the payment specifically covered the permit for the event and the associated public safety response. "Taylor Swift has paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over $160,000 for that event and for the response to that event," he said, as captured in a C-SPAN clip. He noted that the permit was finalized shortly before the wedding.

The high-profile wedding is estimated by industry experts to have cost over $15 million, with taxpayers reportedly contributing over $1 million for police security and patrols around Madison Square Garden. On Friday, officers were observed guarding the area in intense heat.

Industry insiders suggest that booking Madison Square Garden for two days could range from $1.2 million to $1.6 million. Additional costs for insurance were estimated at over $10,000. Expenses for lighting, sound, catering, decorations, and labor are believed to be between $10 million and $12 million, according to The New York Times.

Prior to their wedding celebration, Swift and Kelce reportedly donated $26 million to 20 charities. The specific amount of this donation has led to speculation that it may align with the actual cost of their wedding festivities.

The wedding itself featured Madison Square Garden transformed into an elaborate setting. Reports indicate that Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony, with guests including Stevie Nicks and Paul McCartney performing. Attendees were said to include close friends such as Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, and Sabrina Carpenter.
