Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Ditched Lavish Wedding Props Amid Cost and Safety Concerns

Pop star Taylor Swift and NFL tight end Travis Kelce reportedly abandoned plans for several extravagant features at their wedding, including a carousel estimated to cost $7 million and a pond beneath the altar. The couple, who wed on July 3 at Madison Square Garden, ultimately decided against these elements due to concerns over cost and safety, according to a source speaking with the Daily Mail.

The proposed carousel, described as a two-tiered structure, was deemed too expensive, with a scaled-down single-story version still projected to cost $3.5 million. Instead of the carousel, Swift and Kelce opted for a tent that housed carnival games such as corn-hole and mini-golf.

Safety Concerns for Altar Feature

Another elaborate plan that was nixed was a pond to be situated beneath the altar where the couple exchanged vows. This feature was reportedly rejected because it was considered too dangerous and would have required excessive engineering. The source cited that the pond's edges were not sufficiently tall, creating a risk of guests falling.

The wedding, which was reportedly a $30 million affair, took place at Madison Square Garden in front of approximately 1,000 guests. Attendees included numerous high-profile celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Mariska Hargitay, and Ed Sheeran. Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony, and Swift wore a Christian Dior Haute Couture gown.

Wedding Day Spectacle

Eyewitnesses described the event as a "spectacle," with the venue transformed into an "ethereal garden." The celebration included various food stations, bars serving three specialty cocktails—named "The Gym Teacher," "The English Teacher," and "The T&T"—and a menu featuring lobster, chicken, and French fries. Guests also enjoyed carnival games.

Following the event, photos emerged of the extensive decor being removed from Madison Square Garden, showcasing custom monogrammed items, trees, large green furnishings that formed part of a "big gazebo," orange armchairs, cocktail tables, green chairs, and a chest filled with games.

Travis Kelce has since described the wedding as the "best night of my life," expressing his gratitude for the abundance of love present and the turnout of guests. He stated that marrying Swift was beyond his wildest dreams.
