Longtime friends Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have reportedly made a pact to have their children close in age and serve as godparents to one another's future offspring. Insiders close to Swift told the Daily Mail that the two, who have been friends for nearly two decades, want to experience motherhood together.

"Taylor and Selena have agreed they want to have their babies as close time wise to each other as possible so they can bring them up together," a source told the outlet. "They've essentially made a pact that they will be godmother to each other's children."

This reported pact comes as Swift has recently stepped back from her godmother role to Blake Lively's four children. This decision, according to the Daily Mail, is a "huge slap in the face" to Lively, whose friendship with Swift reportedly ended after the actress allegedly involved Swift in a legal battle with her "It Ends With Us" co-star Justin Baldoni.

Swift confirmed her godparent status to Lively's children in July 2024, but her involvement predated the public acknowledgment. She had previously named Lively's eldest daughter, James, in her song "Gorgeous" and hosted the children at her Rhode Island mansion. However, insiders claim Swift felt she had "no choice" but to distance herself from the role after her friendship with Lively fractured.

The dynamic between Gomez and Lively appears to be strained, with no evidence of them having met or interacted publicly. While Gomez once mentioned Lively's hair in a 2016 interview, she also stated, "I've never met her." The Daily Mail reported in April 2024 that the two women were not friends and actively avoided each other.

Swift and Gomez first met in 2008, bonding over brief romances with brothers Joe and Nick Jonas. Their friendship has since been described as sisterly, with Swift having previously stated, "In my life, I have the ability to forgive people who have hurt me. But I don't know if I can forgive someone who hurts her [Gomez]."

Selena Gomez, who recently married Benny Blanco, has spoken publicly about her fertility struggles. In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2024, Gomez revealed she has had to "grieve" not being able to carry her own child and is exploring options such as surrogacy or adoption. She and Blanco are reportedly looking for a surrogate.

With no tour planned for Swift and her partner Travis Kelce potentially eyeing retirement after the current NFL season, the timing could be opportune for both friends to embark on new family journeys. "The timing works perfectly all around," one insider suggested. "Taylor and Selena are looking forward to sharing the experience of having their first child around the same time."

Representatives for Swift and Gomez did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the Daily Mail.
