Taylor Sheridan's military drama "Lioness" is distinguished by its creator's rigorous approach to realism, particularly in the handling of weaponry, according to star Jill Wagner.
Wagner, who plays Bobby on the Paramount+ series, recently shared insights into Sheridan's commitment to authenticity during an interview with People. She recalled a specific instance during season 3 filming where Sheridan adjusted her weapon transition moments before a crucial room-clearing scene. "Ten minutes before we roll, he comes in and says, ‘No, I think you should switch arms. Transition your weapon to your left arm,'" Wagner recounted. "And I was just like, ‘Hmm … okay. Help me.'...Ultimately, we worked it out, and it’s probably going to be one of my favorite moments."
This level of specificity in tactical details is characteristic of Sheridan's work. The show's current season, airing on Paramount+, has featured action sequences that some viewers have noted for their impressive realism. For example, an episode in season 3 depicted Delta Force operators engaging targets with notable speed and precision in their weapons handling.
Sheridan, also known for "Yellowstone," has frequently been praised for his dedication to accurately portraying military and tactical scenarios in his productions, elements that often go unexamined in other shows within the genre. This focus on verisimilitude extends to various aspects of production, contributing to the immersive quality of "Lioness."
