Before becoming a dominant force in television with hit shows like "Yellowstone" and "Landman," creator Taylor Sheridan experienced homelessness twice, at one point living in his car for six months.

Sheridan shared his past struggles with Town & Country, detailing periods where he drove away from Los Angeles and found places like Ojai to sleep safely. "I chose to sleep in my car over that," he said, referring to the option of taking a full-time job and abandoning his Hollywood aspirations.

From Actor to Screenwriter

Sheridan spent years working as an actor, taking on various television roles. His acting career saw a significant role in the 2008 FX series "Sons of Anarchy" as Deputy Chief David Hale. However, he departed the show after failing to negotiate a desired salary increase, leading to his character's demise.

Following his exit from "Sons of Anarchy" in 2010, the same year his son was born, Sheridan shifted his focus to writing. This pivot proved transformative.

Screenwriting Success and Land Ownership

His first produced screenplay, "Sicario," was released in 2015, followed by "Hell or High Water" the next year, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for best original screenplay. This success enabled Sheridan to purchase a house outright in Wyoming.

His property holdings have since expanded significantly. Sheridan is now a prominent Texas landowner, with holdings including Bosque Ranch and the historic 6666 Ranch, also known as the Four Sixes Ranch. These ranches have also become integral to his productions, serving as filming locations and helping to bring the authentic Western world of his shows to the screen. As noted by actor Andy Garcia, Sheridan possesses a distinctive talent for dialogue, character development, and a unique worldview that has defined his television franchises.
