Television producer Taylor Sheridan has described Los Angeles as an "awful place" and stated he has not visited the city in seven years, despite building a prolific career in the entertainment industry. Sheridan, known for creating popular series such as "Yellowstone," "Landman," and "Lioness," produces his content from Granbury, Texas, utilizing his Bosque Ranch and SGS Studios in Fort Worth.
During a recent appearance on the "Rodeo Time" podcast, Sheridan, 56, commented that Los Angeles offers little beyond opportunities for working out. "I'm the biggest content creator in Hollywood, and I haven't been to that sorry son of a b

Sheridan's career began with acting roles in Los Angeles. He has spoken about witnessing negative interactions between directors and crews on set, which he says influenced his own leadership style. He expressed a philosophy of leading with appreciation rather than frustration, emphasizing the collaborative nature of filmmaking. "I watch these directors, most of them yell at everybody, yell at their crew, yell at people... it's a leadership by frustration," Sheridan explained. "It's a terrible way to lead, and it creates an atmosphere that nobody wants to be a part of."
He noted that his experience has led him to believe that without the contributions of all crew members, from camera operators to production designers, he could not create his shows. "so unless I'm willing to do it, I better be real nice when I ask someone to do it, and I better be real appreciative when they do."
Actors who have worked with Sheridan have offered praise for his creative abilities and his approach to storytelling. Michael Kelly, a star on "Lioness," told ScreenRant that he would do "anything" Sheridan asked, citing his appreciation for working in Texas and delivering Sheridan's dialogue. "I think he's truly a standalone talent," Kelly said. "There's nobody who's doing or has ever done what he's doing. It's incredible what he does. And he's just one of the smartest dudes you'll ever meet. He's fricking brilliant, man. Brilliant. And just one of the greatest storytellers."
Zoe Saldaña, another "Lioness" star, has credited Sheridan with his skill in writing complex and authentic female characters. "If there’s one thing that I love the most, it’s men that really see women, and know how to write women," Saldaña told CBS Mornings. She highlighted the depiction of her character, Joe, as a woman who maintains composure professionally while grappling with personal responsibilities privately. "They may not be perfect, but then again, human beings weren’t made to be perfect," she added.
