Taylor Rooks Discusses Marriage and Privacy in Media Career
Sports broadcaster Taylor Rooks shared insights into her marriage to Shane Fowler and her philosophy on maintaining privacy amid a high-profile media career.
Sports broadcaster Taylor Rooks recently offered a rare glimpse into her personal life, discussing her July 2025 wedding to husband Shane Fowler and her deliberate approach to privacy in a public-facing career. Rooks, who hosts for NBA on Prime, married Fowler, a lawyer she met during his time at Harvard Law School, in a ceremony attended by approximately 190 guests, including notable NBA figures.
Speaking at Front Office Sports’s “Tuned In” summit in New York, Rooks articulated her belief in separating personal life from her professional persona, particularly regarding social media content. "I don’t think the entire world has to know everything about my relationship," Rooks stated. "That is how I have always been. I think you have to let your private things be private things and you have to let yourself have things that just belong to you."
She further elaborated, "I don’t necessarily see my relationship as content… and I don’t knock you if you do. That just really wasn’t — that’s not my ministry." Rooks expressed gratitude for her partner, noting that Fowler's understanding of her demanding work allows her to focus on her career without reservation.
The couple maintained a private relationship and engagement, with their union being announced in a profile with GQ. Rooks emphasized the mutual support within their relationship, stating, "He allows me to be myself… because he understands my work — the same way I understand his."
Fowler, an attorney, has an equally demanding career, and Rooks highlighted that their relationship was founded on mutual respect and understanding, with neither wishing to impede the other's professional pursuits.
Their courtship began while Fowler was in his final year at Harvard Law School. Fowler proposed with a scavenger hunt across New York City, culminating in a private dinner at their preferred pizza restaurant, Fini. Rooks is known for her player features on “Thursday Night Football” on Prime Video and also serves as a strategic partner for Boardroom, a sports, media, and entertainment brand co-founded by Kevin Durant and Rich Kleiman.
