Taylor McGregor Departs Marquee Sports Network for Full-Time ESPN Role
After seven years as the Chicago Cubs' sideline reporter, Taylor McGregor announced her departure to accept a full-time position with ESPN.
Taylor McGregor is leaving Marquee Sports Network to pursue a full-time broadcasting career with ESPN, she announced on Wednesday.
McGregor, who has served as the Cubs' sideline reporter for seven years, stated that transitioning to ESPN has been a long-held ambition. She has previously worked with ESPN since 2019 as a sideline reporter for college football and the UFL.
"Since I started in this industry, being a full-time reporter for ESPN has been my dream," McGregor wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "It’s just that it requires me to leave a job I’ve loved wholeheartedly for the last 7 years."
In an emotional on-air moment during the Cubs' game against the Marlins, McGregor expressed gratitude for her time at Marquee Sports Network. She specifically thanked play-by-play announcers Boog Sciambi and Jim Deshaies for their impact on her career.
"What you see on the air is exactly how it is off the air," she said of her colleagues. "There’s no one who’s impacted my career more than Boog. And no one who’s more enjoyable to be teammates with than JD."
McGregor's new role at ESPN is expected to include coverage of the NBA, college basketball, and hosting "SportsCenter," in addition to her college football responsibilities, according to the Chicago Tribune. Earlier this month, she received praise for her reporting during a nearly two-hour delay of the Florida State-SMU game due to a power outage, where she provided continuous updates from the field.
