Taylor Frankie Paul's ex-husband, Tate Paul, has petitioned a Utah court for a temporary restraining order against the "Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" star, while also seeking sole custody of their two children, Indy and Ocean. The filings were submitted within their ongoing 2022 divorce proceedings.
Sources close to Paul allege that the restraining order request stems from "lies" told to Tate by Dakota Mortensen, another of Taylor Frankie Paul's ex-partners. An insider claimed Mortensen would "do anything to hurt her... including using the children."
Simultaneously, a source told People that Taylor Frankie Paul has voluntarily entered a facility on her doctor's recommendation, stating she is "committed to getting better." Another source indicated that members of her inner circle want to see her "get help" and are "just trying to protect the kids."
This development follows a recent incident where Mortensen, with whom Taylor Frankie Paul shares a son named Ever, reportedly contacted authorities from the Bluffdale, Utah Police Department regarding a protective order against her. The police confirmed they spoke with both Mortensen and Taylor Frankie Paul before forwarding information to the District Attorney's office.
According to TMZ, the issue involved disagreements over who could be present during exchanges for their toddler and whether the protective order had been violated. A source stated that Taylor Frankie Paul and Mortensen have not communicated since the protective orders were issued.
Taylor Frankie Paul previously posted on Instagram, which has since been deleted, about police being called on her, attributing it to "ONE person, the same person. It's obsessive."
Taylor Frankie Paul and Mortensen have been involved in a contentious custody battle over Ever, following alleged domestic violence incidents. Multiple investigations have occurred, including an incident captured on video showing Taylor Frankie Paul in an apparent altercation with Mortensen, with their daughter Indy present.
Amidst this turmoil, the as-yet-unreleased season of "The Bachelorette" that Taylor Frankie Paul was set to star in was cancelled by ABC. Mortensen was subsequently granted sole custody of Ever, and Taylor Frankie Paul received supervised visitation in April.
In late April, a judge ordered both Taylor Frankie Paul and Mortensen to remain 100 feet away from each other due to dual protective orders, instructing them to "figure out how to function as coparents."
Taylor Frankie Paul was married to Tate Paul from 2016 to 2022. Tate Paul has since remarried and welcomed a child with his current wife, Bailey Roberts Paul.
