Tatum Paxley and Alexa Bliss Claim WWE Women's Tag Team Championship
Newcomer Paxley secures her first main roster title alongside veteran Bliss after an backstage attack sidelines Charlotte Flair.
The WWE Women's Tag Team Championship has a new holder following Friday Night SmackDown, with newcomer Tatum Paxley and Alexa Bliss defeating Fatal Influence to capture the gold.
Originally slated to defend their titles against Charlotte Flair and Paxley, Fatal Influence's Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid found themselves facing a different opponent when Flair was attacked backstage by Jade Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab. Alexa Bliss stepped in as Flair's replacement.
During the match, Henley appeared to have the victory secured as she pinned Paxley, using the ropes for leverage. However, the referee noticed the illegal assistance and halted the count. While Henley's attention was diverted, Bliss attacked Reid on the floor. Paxley then capitalized, hitting the Cemetery Drive on Henley to secure the pinfall and the championship.
Henley and Reid's reign as champions lasted 83 days, having won the titles in July. For Paxley, this marks her first championship on the main roster. She made her SmackDown debut in August, following a tenure in NXT where she held multiple championships.
Bliss now holds five tag team championships, previously winning with partners including Flair, Asuka, and Nikki Cross.
