Brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate took the stand in a Miami court to argue against their extradition to the United Kingdom, where they face 59 criminal charges including rape, sex trafficking, and indecent images of a child. Their legal team asserted they are not a flight risk, while prosecutors argued they possess the resources and multiple passports that could aid an escape.

Andrew Tate, 39, a former professional kickboxer, testified that he has "never committed the crimes I'm accused of" and that his online persona, while sometimes inflammatory, was intended to gain attention. He compared his situation to that of drug kingpin El Chapo but emphasized his own "perfect record in the court system."

Tristan Tate, 38, described his detention conditions as cramped, hot, with limited sunlight and exercise, stating it was hindering his ability to assist in his defense. He claimed to have lost 14 pounds, likening the situation to "death by scurvy." He expressed fear that if sent to England, he would be imprisoned and lose his assets, stating the previous Romanian charges had "destroyed my entire life."

US government lawyers countered the brothers' claims, suggesting they had exaggerated their wealth for their online personas and possessed resources sufficient for an escape. They pointed to the brothers' alleged possession of multiple passports.

Andrew Tate's defense also called Natasha Sesay, who described a five-year relationship with him, during which they had two children. She testified that despite his online image, Andrew Tate has "never ever been violent toward women."

The UK authorities filed 21 charges against the brothers last year and added 38 more last month. These charges involve seven accusers. The Tate brothers previously faced sex-trafficking charges in Romania in 2022, operating under a travel ban until they were permitted to travel to the U.S. in 2025.

The brothers built a significant online following, particularly among young men, by showcasing a lifestyle of wealth and excess in the so-called manosphere. Andrew Tate amassed millions of followers on social media platforms. The White House has indicated that President Donald Trump will not intervene in the extradition case, despite the brothers being vocal supporters of his.
