Tate Brothers Accused of Luring Women with 'Lover Boy' Scheme for Pornography

Andrew and Tristan Tate, who face extradition from the U.S. to Britain on charges including rape and human trafficking, allegedly used a "lover boy" model to exploit women, according to British law enforcement.

In court documents made public Monday, a British detective outlined the prosecution's case, stating that the brothers enticed women with promises of romantic relationships to travel to their base in Romania. Once there, the women were allegedly coerced into creating online pornography through violence and threats.

The Tate brothers, dual U.S. and British citizens, were arrested in Miami in July. Britain has requested their extradition to face charges that also include human trafficking.

Lawyers for the Tate brothers have denied the accusations. Joseph McBride, a lawyer for the brothers, stated that the accusations cannot be properly examined because Britain has not disclosed the identities of the accusers to the defense. "No American court should be asked to surrender a person to a foreign country on the word of secret accusers," McBride said.

The British embassy in Washington D.C. submitted documents to the United States last month in support of the extradition requests. These documents included summaries of the cases compiled by a detective from Bedfordshire Police.

According to the summary, Andrew Tate persuaded vulnerable women with whom he had developed relationships to move to Romania by promising them earnings from his webcam business. Upon arrival, the women allegedly became financially dependent on the Tate brothers, who reportedly confiscated their passports.

"The prosecution case is that Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate used and threatened physical and sexual violence in order to maintain control and compliance," the summary stated.

The Tate brothers have been held in Miami since their arrests. A U.S. Magistrate Judge is considering their extradition, with lawyers requested to propose dates for final hearings, though none have been set.

In addition to the British charges, the brothers have been under investigation in Romania since 2022 for alleged human trafficking and other offenses.
