Actor Taron Egerton has shared that he has been estranged from his father for years. Egerton discussed his personal life on the "Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard" podcast, detailing the strained relationship.

During the same podcast, Egerton also spoke about his experiences filming the "Kingsman" franchise, highlighting the mentorship he received from co-star Colin Firth. Egerton portrayed Gary "Eggsy" Unwin, a protégé mentored by Firth's character, Harry Hart, in "Kingsman: The Secret Service" (2014) and "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" (2017).

Egerton recalled a period during the filming of the first "Kingsman" movie when director Matthew Vaughn considered removing him from the production due to his behavior. "I was going through a difficult time. I broke up with my first girlfriend and I was like really aggressively partying to deal with it and was coming in, in like a bad way," Egerton explained. He noted that Vaughn had to send him home on some filming days because he was not in a condition to work.

He described Firth as a "fatherly figure" and "fatherly and understanding" during that challenging time. "Colin was amazing. I remember I was going through a difficult time... I remember there were a couple of days on Kingsman where Matt was like, 'you're going home. I can't film you today'," Egerton said. He added that Firth was always "lovely to me."

Upon seeing the finished film, Firth reportedly texted Egerton, saying, "you are note perfect." Egerton described Firth as a "generous, kind man."

The actor also expressed a desire to make another installment in the "Kingsman" series, stating, "it would be fun to get to ride with Colin once more."

Egerton's career gained significant momentum after the "Kingsman" films. He later voiced Johnny the gorilla in the 2016 animated movie "Sing" and portrayed Elton John in the 2019 musical biopic "Rocketman."

Egerton noted his early exposure to music, stating, "Singing is a big thing in Wales, so I did choir stuff in school. Loved singing." He added, "I was introduced to music very young, there was always music being played."
