Actor Taron Egerton has spoken about his estranged relationship with his father, David, revealing that he has not seen him in years after deciding to end contact.

Egerton, 36, who starred in the "Kingsman" film franchise, discussed his personal life on the "Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard" podcast. He explained that his parents, David and Christine, split when he was two years old. His mother, a social worker, then moved him from Merseyside to Anglesey, Wales.

"There was a point where I pushed the ejector seat and haven't seen him since," Egerton said, admitting his reluctance to discuss the topic in depth. He added, "I'm reluctant to talk in too much detail about him because he's, you know, living his own life and doing his own thing and I'll always love him. I just don't think we work very well in terms of our relationship."

During the interview, Egerton also mentioned that he views his "Kingsman" co-star Colin Firth as a fatherly figure. Firth played Egerton's mentor, Harry Hart, in the 2014 film "Kingsman: The Secret Service" and its 2017 sequel, "Kingsman: The Golden Circle."

Egerton recounted an incident during the filming of "Kingsman" where director Matthew Vaughn threatened to remove him from the production due to his excessive partying following a breakup. Egerton stated that Firth offered him support during this period.

"Colin was amazing. He was never anything other than kind of gentle and fatherly and understanding," Egerton said of Firth's support. "He was always, he was always lovely to me."

The actor also touched upon his struggles with body image, particularly after achieving peak physical condition for "Kingsman." He described feeling "invincible" and "beautiful" during that time but subsequently gained weight, a challenge he has managed more effectively in his thirties.

"When we finished the movie, I just went bang the other way and I gained so much weight," Egerton recalled. "And that, that was really, really has been a feature of my adult life."
