Tarek El Moussa Hints at Tension with Ex Christina Haack Ahead of "The Flip Off" Season Two
The HGTV star made lighthearted but pointed remarks about his ex-wife's boyfriend, suggesting a potential 'feud' dynamic might surface in their upcoming show.
Tarek El Moussa has suggested a potential 'feud' between himself and his ex-wife Christina Haack, hinting at underlying tensions that could be highlighted in the upcoming second season of their HGTV competition series, "The Flip Off." The real estate investor made these comments in an interview with the Daily Mail, offering a playful but pointed perspective on Haack's current relationship.
When asked whose side he would take if Haack were to split from her boyfriend of two years, Christopher Larocca, El Moussa humorously stated, "If they do break up, I'm going with him." He described Larocca as "an adult" and "a mature adult." Tarek's wife, Heather El Moussa, echoed this sentiment, calling Larocca a "good man" who is "level-headed" and supportive of their family.
Tarek and Haack, who finalized their divorce in 2018, share joint legal and physical custody of their two children, Taylor, 16, and Brayden, 11. Despite their past marital discord, the co-parents have developed a surprisingly close relationship in recent years, often showcasing their bond on social media. Haack has also spoken about having a "close" relationship with Heather El Moussa, with the two women reportedly coordinating outfits and sharing clothing.
"The Flip Off" features the exes competing against each other as they find, buy, renovate, and sell homes, vying for the highest return on investment. Larocca, who made a brief appearance in the first season, is set to feature more prominently in the second season. Haack has praised him for supporting her through the stresses of filming.
Tarek also commented on the possibility of marriage for Haack, who has been married three times. He quipped, "He hasn't done anything dumb yet. So maybe," referring to Larocca. Haack, however, has previously stated that marriage is "not on my radar right now" and that she would need to be engaged for at least five years before considering it again.
In contrast to his current amicable relationship with Larocca, Tarek noted a lack of communication with Haack's second husband, Ant Anstead, with whom she shares a son, Hudson, 7. Tarek cited an incident during "The Flip Off" season one where Anstead, appearing as a guest judge, voted for Haack over Tarek and Heather, stating, "ever since he burned us on season one and voted for the wrong team, we haven't really talked."
Filming for "The Flip Off" season two has wrapped, and it is expected to air in early 2027. Heather El Moussa expressed optimism about the future, hoping for a third season of their HGTV series, "The Flipping El Moussas," which, along with Haack's "Christina on the Coast," was canceled last year amid network changes. Their original show, "Flip or Flop," which launched in 2013, concluded after 10 seasons in March 2022.
Tarek also touched upon the current state of the real estate industry, describing it as "very sleepy" with interest rates at a three-year high. Heather added that Tarek's business involves helping individuals in distress by purchasing properties nationwide.
