Tara Reid Attends Fan Convention Amidst Lingering Questions About Drugging Allegation
The actress was seen smoking and signing autographs at The Hollywood Show, one year after reporting a hotel drugging incident that was later closed due to insufficient evidence.
Actress Tara Reid, 50, was seen smoking a cigarette while taking a break from signing autographs for fans at The Hollywood Show convention in Burbank, California, over the weekend. Reid, known for her roles in "American Pie," "The Big Lebowski," and the "Sharknado" franchise, had a booth at the event where she met with attendees.
The convention also featured other notable figures such as Tatum O'Neal, Linda Blair, Barbara Eden, and Ann-Margret. Reid's next on-screen appearance is slated for the drama series "Murder Mystery Party."
This appearance comes more than a year after Reid publicly alleged that she was drugged by a stranger after consuming a single drink at a hotel in Rosemont, Illinois, in November 2023. She was subsequently hospitalized.
The Rosemont Police Department concluded their investigation three weeks later, stating they found no evidence to support the claim that Reid's drink had been spiked. Police clarified that while they did not confirm her claims as false, the lack of evidence prevented further action. They noted that the case could be reopened if additional evidence emerged.
Reid expressed feeling "judged and bullied" by the public and media following the police statement. She stated at the time that she had no memory of events after her first drink and sought an explanation for waking up in a hospital gown. She described the public scrutiny as painful and detrimental to her healing process, causing her to fear leaving her home.
She maintained that her hospitalization, which lasted for approximately eleven hours, was not due to drinking wine alone and confirmed she had not taken any medication that day. Reid emphasized that her lack of memory was the basis for her suspicion, regardless of any subsequent drinks consumed.
