Tandridge Council Proposes £150,000 Winter Support Scheme for Vulnerable Residents

Tandridge District Council is considering allocating £150,000 to continue its winter support scheme for vulnerable residents, according to a report prepared for the strategy and resources committee. If approved, the scheme will offer financial aid to households struggling to meet short-term essential needs.
Each year, the scheme has historically assisted approximately 500 households. To be eligible, applicants must be a householder aged 16 or over, reside primarily within the Tandridge District Council area, and demonstrate difficulty in covering essential short-term costs. Priority will be given to specific groups, including households with dependent children, individuals with disabilities, pensioners, carers, those facing homelessness, and victims of domestic abuse.
Council officers will review applications, considering local economic conditions and existing support arrangements with other agencies. The program will be fully funded by the council from its allocated resources. Should the proposal receive approval, applications are scheduled to open on November 9.
The financial awards are expected to range from £150 for households without children to £250 for those with children.
