Tagovailoa's Late Interception Seals Falcons' Collapse Against Ravens
The former Dolphins quarterback threw a game-ending pick in overtime after replacing an injured Michael Penix Jr.

Tua Tagovailoa's brief appearance for the Atlanta Falcons ended in an overtime interception that sealed their 30-23 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. Tagovailoa entered the game with 27 seconds remaining in regulation after starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. suffered a rib injury.
After a successful 14-yard completion on his first pass, Tagovailoa's second play in overtime proved decisive. With the Falcons at their own 48-yard line following a 20-yard pass to Drake London, Tagovailoa threw directly into the hands of Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton, ending Atlanta's hopes of victory. The Ravens had previously scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion to tie the game at 23-23, consuming over seven minutes of the ten-minute overtime period.
The Falcons had held a 23-15 lead late in the fourth quarter before allowing the Ravens to score and force overtime. Penix Jr. is scheduled for an MRI to determine the severity of his rib injury. If the injury sidelines him, Tagovailoa would be in line to start in the upcoming game against the Chicago Bears.
ESPN reported that Penix Jr. would have returned to the game had the Falcons possessed the ball first in overtime. Penix Jr. stated that he felt colder and experienced worsening pain in his ribs while on the sideline.
In his last starting season with the Dolphins, Tagovailoa played 14 games, throwing for 2,660 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions.
