Sydney Sweeney Releases Second Provocative Ad Amid Backlash
Actress Sydney Sweeney has released another ad for the sports-prediction app Novig, featuring her in a state of undress, doubling down on her campaign despite previous criticism.
Sydney Sweeney is continuing her provocative advertising campaign for the sports-prediction market and trading app Novig, releasing a new ad on Sunday where she appears without a top. This follows earlier criticism for a similar ad released last month.
In the latest advertisement, Sweeney is depicted wearing only white panties with the Novig logo. She states, "There are grown men making spreadsheets to bet on what color underwear I'm wearing." She adds, "I mean, I'm flattered?"
The 29-year-old actress strategically uses two footballs to cover her breasts in the ad. She continues, "There's someone sitting in a bathroom stall and betting their 401k on a w--re, and then, there are just people who trade on sports." Sweeney concludes by emphasizing, "Novig is… just sports."
The campaign has drawn criticism, with some arguing it sexualizes female athletes and reduces women's involvement in sports to their appearance. Sweeney's "Euphoria" co-star Sharon Stone publicly commented on the controversy, stating that Sweeney should "take responsibility for her actions." Stone emphasized that women's sports should not be used to attract male attention for gambling purposes.
Sweeney has previously responded to the backlash by sharing images of athletes who have posed nude for ESPN's Body Issue on her Instagram Stories, drawing parallels to her own campaign. The actress appears undeterred by the criticism, with fans expressing both support and anticipation for further reactions to her latest ad.
