Sweeney, 29, plays Millie, a live-in maid attempting to start anew and leave her past behind. Morrone, 36, reprises his role as Enzo Accardi, the enigmatic groundskeeper. In the scene captured, Sweeney was dressed in olive green cargo pants, a jean jacket, and black boots, while Morrone wore a black sweater, dark grey slacks, and sunglasses.

"The Housemaid," released in 2025, is based on Freida McFadden's 2022 novel of the same name. The film follows Millie as she works for Amanda Seyfried's character, Nina Winchester, the wife of Brandon Sklenar's character, Andrew Winchester. The plot takes a dark turn as the Winchesters' seemingly perfect facade begins to crumble, placing Millie in peril.

The original erotic thriller was produced on a $35 million budget and garnered over $400 million worldwide, making it a significant commercial success for director Paul Feig and Sweeney. This also marked it as the highest-grossing film for both Feig and Sweeney.

Development of a sequel was announced in January, with Feig returning to direct. Screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine had reportedly completed the script for the sequel by the time the first film achieved box office success. Sweeney has previously expressed her enthusiasm for reprising her role.

"I would love to [reprise the role]," Sweeney told People magazine. "I was such a huge fan of the books, so I would be just as happy as everyone else being able to see more Housemaids come to life and getting to explore more of Millie."

Sweeney previously said about her character: 'She's spicy. She is a fighter. She knows what she believes in and she stands up for it'

Sweeney further described her character, stating, "She's spicy. She is a fighter. She knows what she believes in and she stands up for it. I love characters like that. I love seeing movies that have just fully embraced female rage."

Director Paul Feig has praised Sweeney for her confidence and body positivity, contrasting her with other actors who he said struggle with insecurity. He told The Times newspaper, "She's very proud of how she looks, and you should be. There are so many people I've encountered where you're fighting against their insecurity. She would say: 'I love women's bodies,' and that's so healthy."

Feig also commented on the filming of intimate scenes, noting that while he personally feels uncomfortable with onscreen nudity, both Sweeney and co-star Brandon Sklenar handled such scenes professionally. He credited the film's intimacy coordinator for creating a comfortable and professional environment on set, calling the role of intimacy coordinators "the greatest thing that's happened in Hollywood."
