Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone Film "The Housemaid" Sequel in New York

Sydney Sweeney was seen filming the sequel to "The Housemaid" in New York City on Friday, where she reunited with co-star Michele Morrone. The two actors, who played on-screen lovers in the 2025 erotic thriller, shared a public display of affection as they embraced during a scene.

Sweeney, 29, reprises her role as Millie, a live-in maid attempting to escape her past. Morrone, 36, returns as Enzo Accardi, the enigmatic groundskeeper. For the scene, Sweeney was dressed in olive green cargo pants, a jean jacket, and black boots, while Morrone sported a black sweater, dark grey slacks, and sunglasses.

The original "The Housemaid," released in 2025, is based on Freida McFadden's 2022 novel of the same name. The film follows Millie as she works for Nina Winchester (Amanda Seyfried), a seemingly polished woman married to Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar). The plot takes a dark turn as the Winchesters' facade crumbles, placing Millie in a perilous situation.

"The Housemaid" achieved significant commercial success, grossing over $400 million worldwide on a $35 million budget. It became both director Paul Feig's and Sweeney's highest-grossing film to date.

In January, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that a sequel was in development with Feig set to return as director. Screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine had reportedly completed the script for the sequel prior to the original film's box office release, according to Business Insider.

Sweeney has previously expressed enthusiasm for reprising her role. In an interview with People last year, she stated, "I would love to [reprise the role]. I was such a huge fan of the books, so I would be just as happy as everyone else being able to see more Housemaids come to life and getting to explore more of Millie."

She described her character as "spicy" and "a fighter," adding, "She knows what she believes in and she stands up for it. I love characters like that. I love seeing movies that have just fully embraced female rage."

Paul Feig commented on Sweeney's positive body image, telling The Times newspaper, "She's very proud of how she looks, and you should be. There are so many people I've encountered where you're fighting against their insecurity. She would say: 'I love women's bodies,' and that's so healthy."

Feig also discussed the presence of intimacy coordinators on set, calling it "the greatest thing that's happened in Hollywood." He noted his personal discomfort with onscreen nudity and praised the role of coordinators in facilitating safe and professional environments for intimate scenes.
