Swimming Pool Industry Executive Faces Assault Charges
Chris Papageorgiou, described as the 'godfather of the swimming pool industry,' has been charged with assault and a court has rejected his attempt to suppress case details.
Chris Papageorgiou, an executive in the swimming pool industry, has been charged with assault following a reunion with a former teenage sweetheart, according to court documents. A judge has denied his request to keep certain details of the case from the public.
Papageorgiou, who has been described as the 'godfather of the swimming pool industry,' appeared in Moorabbin Magistrates' Court on Thursday facing two counts of assault. He was the co-CEO of Maytronics Australia, a company that manufactures robotic swimming pool cleaners and vacuum systems. Papageorgiou has since been stood down from his role.
One of the alleged assaults is said to have occurred during a weekend trip to Sydney in November of the previous year. The couple was reportedly staying at Q Station in Manly at the time.
Papageorgiou reunited with his former partner years after their teenage romance ended. He has been involved in legal proceedings across two states.
Papageorgiou, a father of two, is expected to return to court at a later date. He was photographed outside the court with a friend.
