A swimmer who went missing overnight off Venice Beach was found alive on rocks early Monday morning after a search and rescue operation. Witnesses reported seeing the man enter the ocean but did not see him return to shore.

The Los Angeles Fire Department and lifeguards responded to the incident near the 1500 block of Ocean Front Walk around 1 a.m. First responders scanned the beach and located the injured swimmer on the rocks approximately 20 minutes after the alarm was raised. He was subsequently rescued by lifeguards and transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities have not yet released details regarding the circumstances that led to the swimmer's disappearance in the water. The incident occurred during a period of powerful surf impacting Southern California, attributed to Tropical Storm Marie. The storm had previously caused significant damage in Long Beach, breaching a seawall and flooding coastal homes, prompting evacuations and structural assessments.

Emergency personnel transport an injured man on a stretcher at night, with an emergency vehicle and police car in the background.
