Suzanne Shaw Reveals Workout Secrets After Significant Weight Loss
The actress attributes her transformation to working out less, eating more, and prioritizing sleep and mindfulness.
Suzanne Shaw, 45, has revealed the secrets behind her impressive physique transformation, which includes a 14-pound weight loss over 12 weeks. Shaw shared that her approach involved reducing workout intensity and duration while increasing food intake, alongside a focus on sleep and mental well-being.
In a recent Instagram video, Shaw displayed her toned abdomen while demonstrating her workout routine. The routine incorporated exercises such as vertical knee raises on a machine, deadlifts, weighted curtsy lunges, reverse sit-ups, pull-ups, and strength training on gymnastic rings. She emphasized that as she gets older, becoming stronger is a priority for her bone, muscle, and mental health.
Shaw explained that she stopped endurance running and decreased her weekly workouts from a minimum of five to three or four sessions. Her nutritional strategy shifted to tracking macronutrients and prioritizing protein, focusing on fine-tuning her diet rather than simply reducing calories. She also highlighted the importance of non-gym activities, including prioritizing sleep and introducing a morning mindfulness practice, while paying attention to stress and recovery.
She credited her personal trainer, Grace, as a "game-changer" for her progress. Grace tailored the plan to accommodate Shaw's work commitments and travel, maintaining consistent contact, adjusting macros and training based on Shaw's hormonal cycle and needs, and preventing the process from becoming stressful. Shaw noted that Grace also helped her achieve 10,000 steps daily, even during long car journeys.
Shaw clarified that her transformation was not instantaneous, noting seven years of consistent exercise prior to this focused period. She explained that a solid fitness foundation was already present, and the recent changes helped reveal muscle definition that was previously obscured by a layer of fat and water retention. She concluded that consistency with the right methods, rather than simply doing more, was key to her results.
