SUV Plows Into Stopped Cars on California Freeway, Sparking Fatal Pileup
One person was killed after being trapped in a vehicle during a multi-vehicle collision on the 605 Freeway.

A fatal multi-vehicle crash occurred on the northbound Interstate 605 in Los Angeles County early Tuesday morning when an SUV collided with vehicles already stopped at the scene of an earlier incident.
The collision happened before 1 a.m. on the 605 Freeway near Cerritos. Video from the scene shows several vehicles stationary in the left lanes, with a tow truck present. A gold SUV then approaches the stopped traffic and crashes into the vehicles. One person was killed after becoming trapped inside their vehicle, according to OnSceneTV.
The California Highway Patrol reported the initial crash around 12:30 a.m. Approximately 20 minutes later, the incident was updated to a fatal collision investigation.
The crash led to a SigAlert on the northbound 605 Freeway south of the 91 Freeway. The HOV lane and three additional lanes were closed for investigation and cleanup. All lanes were reopened by approximately 4:45 a.m. The California Post has reached out to the CHP for further details regarding the cause of the initial crash and the subsequent collision.
