Four suspects were arrested early Wednesday morning after leading Los Angeles police on a high-speed pursuit that was livestreamed on Instagram. The Los Angeles Police Department initiated the chase around 3:45 a.m. in Van Nuys, pursuing a vehicle southbound on the 405 freeway. The pursuit concluded on the 7th Street bridge.
During the broadcast, multiple men could be heard panicking and discussing their next moves as flashing red and blue police lights appeared behind their speeding vehicle. A police helicopter eventually illuminated the car with a spotlight. The suspects audibly debated what to do with a backpack. "I don’t know where to go my n—a," one individual stated on the livestream. Another instructed someone to "get the backpack ready," while a third urged them to hold it as police sirens grew louder.
The livestream went silent approximately three minutes into the pursuit. After the chase ended, footage from the scene showed several men in handcuffs as officers searched a black car and a backpack on the ground. The backpack contained screwdrivers and wires. The user who livestreamed the chase, identified as 310_luis_, was among those taken into custody.
Details regarding the specific charges or the identities of the suspects were not immediately available. It remains unclear what evidence was recovered beyond the contents of the backpack.
