The Gilroy Police Department is seeking the public's help in identifying a suspect accused of sexual battery against a shopper at a local arts and crafts store. The incident occurred on June 18.
Authorities released two images on Thursday of the individual believed to be responsible. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a medium build and short hair. He was last seen wearing black basketball-style shorts and a light-colored short-sleeved shirt. The images show the suspect inside a store, carrying clothing.
Police stated the suspect fled the premises before officers arrived on the scene. Commenters on the department's social media posts noted the individual appeared familiar, with one person writing that they had encountered him at their place of employment, which is located next to a Verizon store.
Gilroy police are requesting anyone with information regarding the suspect's identity or whereabouts to come forward.
