Jianquan Bo pleaded not guilty Tuesday to murder and kidnapping charges in the execution of Shukur Aikebaer, a businessman allegedly killed in the trunk of a car following a dispute. Bo appeared in court in Rancho Cucamonga with an attorney and an interpreter.

His next court date is scheduled for August 12. Bo is accused of helping orchestrate the kidnapping of Aikebaer, whose death culminated in an officer-involved shooting that killed Bo's brother, Zhengfeng Bo, 67. Investigators allege Zhengfeng Bo fired the fatal shots.

According to investigators, the incident began around 10:14 p.m. on July 29 when Zhengfeng and Jianquan Bo drove to Aikebaer's Chino Hills residence. Detectives believe the brothers cut the home's electricity to lure Aikebaer outside. When he exited the home to investigate, authorities allege Zhengfeng Bo shot Aikebaer in the torso.

The suspects then allegedly forced the wounded Aikebaer into the trunk of their Nissan Altima and drove away. A neighbor's 911 call reporting gunfire and providing a vehicle description enabled deputies to quickly locate the car. A brief pursuit ensued before the vehicle stopped in Chino Hills.

Sheriff Shannon Dicus stated that deputies were unaware Aikebaer was in the trunk. Investigators allege Zhengfeng Bo then exited the vehicle, opened the trunk, and fatally shot Aikebaer in the head. Deputies returned fire, killing Zhengfeng Bo at the scene. Jianquan Bo was taken into custody, and Aikebaer was pronounced dead.

Authorities suggest the violence stemmed from a deteriorating business relationship, potentially involving financial losses or disagreements over company decisions. Zhengfeng Bo was the CEO of Panshi Inc., a commercial real estate firm, while Aikebaer served as the company's chief financial officer and secretary. Panshi Inc. was also involved in a lawsuit with Panoptic Development concerning control of a $20 million apartment complex in Pasadena. Court records indicate that Panshi, holding a 70% stake in the property, voted in March to remove Panoptic as the building's manager.

San Bernardino County District Attorney Jason Anderson stated at a news conference on Monday that Zhengfeng Bo's family has been devastated by the events.
