Suspect in Ann Widdecombe Murder Case Charged with Terror Offense Against Nigel Farage
A 28-year-old man, previously suspected in the murder of Ann Widdecombe, now faces a charge of preparing acts of terrorism against Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.
A 28-year-old man has been charged with preparing acts of terrorism, with the alleged target being Reform UK leader Nigel Farage. The suspect, Joshua Kerry of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, was charged on Friday under the Terrorism Act 2006.
The charge specifies alleged activity occurring between May 31, 2024, and July 8, 2026, and includes plans against Farage, the Member of Parliament for Clacton.
Mention of the charge comes after Ann Widdecombe was found dead at her home in Devon on July 9, 2026. Authorities have not explicitly stated a connection between Widdecombe's death and the terrorism charge against Kerry, other than his initial designation as a suspect in her murder investigation.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans, Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing, stated that the investigation has been intensive and complex. "The charge announced today is a result of the tireless work of investigators across the Counter Terrorism Policing network," Evans said. She added that the investigation involved a dedicated team of detectives, analysts, and forensic experts working on multiple lines of inquiry.
Kerry is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court next Wednesday. The investigation remains ongoing.
